It’s Not Too Late To Vaccinate
Before vaccinations, to develop immunity a person had to get the disease, survive it and then depend on the immune system to ‘remember’ or ‘recognize’ the germ so it could fight it again. Unfortunately not everyone survived the disease.
An easier and safer way to develop immunity as well as boost the immune system is to get immunized against a disease. Vaccines contain germs that have been killed or weakened which trigger the immune system to respond and build immunity.
Immunizations are not only for children but are also recommended for adults. Adults may have had certain diseases or vaccines but some vaccines may not have been available when they were children. Immunity may also wane over time.
Immunizations can protect you and those you love against diseases such as influenza, pneumococcus, meningococcus, HPV, hepatitis B, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, polio and diphtheria.
Your healthcare provider can help you decide which vaccines you need. Some adult populations are at higher risk for certain diseases. It is important to consider your state of health, age, occupation, life style and residence.
